Sinharaja Forest Reserve is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and biosphere reserve — the island's last significant expanse of primary lowland rainforest. Over 60% of its trees are endemic, and it shelters more than half of Sri Lanka's endemic mammals, butterflies and birds. Guided trails wind past towering dipterocarps, cascading streams and mixed-species feeding flocks.
